Freed Guantanamo inmates take up arms

The Age:

AT LEAST 30 former Guantanamo Bay detainees have been killed or recaptured after taking up arms against allied forces following their release.

Fighting on the author's blog.

The far left fear the authority of an elaborate process that determines the guilt or innocence of an individual. They hate the military because they believe they do evil things. They believe they do evil things because they hate the military. The due process they talk about is antithetical to the assumption of guilt without evidence.

Arguing with a moonbat:
Q) If the red cross put a monitoring station there, will you stop asking to close down Gitmo?
A) No!
Q) How is it you know what's going on there if you didn't know they already had one?

The nine lives of self-described Whistleblowers

Mark Styne, August 2004:

But it turns out JOE WILSON LIED! PEOPLE DIED. Of embarrassment mostly. At least I'm assuming that's why the New York Times, MSNBC's Chris Matthews, PBS drone Bill Moyers and all the other media bigwigs Joseph C. Wilson IV suckered have fallen silent on the subject of the white knight of integrity they've previously given the hold-the-front-page treatment, too.
And what about John F. Kerry? Joe Wilson campaigned with Kerry in at least six states, and claims to have helped with the candidate's speeches. He was said to be a senior foreign policy adviser to the senator. As of Friday, Wilson's Web site, restorehonesty.com, was still wholly paid for by Kerry's presidential campaign.
Heigh-ho. It would be nice to hear his media boosters howling en masse, "Say it ain't so, Joe!" But Joe Wilson's already slipping down the old media memory hole. He served his purpose -- he damaged Bush, he tainted the liberation of Iraq -- and yes, by the time you read this the Kerry campaign may well have pulled the plug on his Web site, and Salon magazine's luxury cruise will probably have to find another headline speaker, and he won't be doing Tim Russert again any time soon. But what matters to the media and to Senator Kerry is that he helped the cause of (to quote his book title) The Politics Of Truth, and if it takes a serial liar to do that, so be it.

> In this it resembles nothing so much as those animated cartoon characters who, after being flattened, blown up, or pushed over a cliff, always spring back to life with their bodies perfectly intact. Perhaps, like those cartoon characters, this allegation simply cannot be killed off, no matter what.
Liberals do this constantly. You argue with them on a concept, get them to follow you every single step of the way — yes, that’s true… yep, that follows… uh-huh… ok, right… and then you point out to them that where they are now standing refutes everything they have claimed, utterly. Three days later you’ll hear them arguing from the same idiotic starting point you showed them was blatantly false.

The Liberal Reset Button is the centerpiece of the liberal mindset.

Mind you — I have seen the same in conservatives with regards to certain hot-button issues such as abortion — but, with liberals, it’s incredibly widespread as to the number of subjects/memes covered.

July 2007:
Joe Wilson's Pick? Hillary Clinton

For her part, a delighted Clinton praised the former ambassador -- whose wife, Valerie Plame, had her CIA cover blown by leaks from key players in the White House -- for "standing up to this administration and holding it accountable for the misinformation that led us into the Iraq war."
Wrapping herself in the anti-war mantle that she has never been able to claim with much success -- at least until now -- Clinton added with regard to Wilson, "I'm honored to have his support as we do everything in our power to bring this war to an end and begin bringing our troops home safely."

Tennessee law professor Glen Reynolds speaks with inscrutable brevity. He gets 100,000 hits a day, making him the most popular of all rightwing-leaning or libertarian bloggers. He talks about Iraq, elections, cars, space, nanotechnology, books, gadgets, free speech. The only thing that ties these subjects together is optimism about the future. His wife is Helen Smith and they have one daughter.

100%

Bush's Enemies:

The latest act of terrorism in Britain went awry a couple of weeks ago, causing Al Qaeda to send out a message that they would get vengeance for foiling the plot.

Do you see what's wrong with this picture? "Before this, we were blowing ourselves up, and praying to Allah that you are all beheaded ... but now we're really angry." They've given us 100% of their hatred, and there's nothing left for us to worry about escalating the situation.

Who else is 100% set against Bush?

David Gregory and Helen Thomas lecture the POTUS.

[I gave a pretty good answer in the comments section, and since I doubt I can improve upon it, I will show it in full here.]

Dan Rather wrecked his career on Bush. But it might not have happened that way, it was only luck that someone as passive as Bush had won out. His current opponents are just as clumsy and dishonest as Rather was. Bush is obligated to fight back. He could thoroughly humiliate them on live tv with "just the facts" ordinary public record. If blogs can do it, then Tony Snow with a powerpoint sure can. They're aggressive to the point of dishonesty, and it's ridiculous for the White House to pretend otherwise.

Also, aside from the rancor... a press conference is about !asking questions! I don't think revoking passes for a few months on long winded orators is some slippery slope to fascism. Give them a week of the Alex Trebec treatment to remember when and where not to orally editorialize. I guess the spin won't be live, it'll be taped ... sigh.

Sicko

"Canadian Bacon" (1994)

Candy Striper at Canadan Hospital: Oh we're not doctors. We're candy stripers! Our universal health care system has determined that you don't actually need a doctor until...
Candy Striper at Canadan Hospital: ...2006!

Written and Directed by Michael Moore.
Canadian Bacon was a comedy starring John Candy, which got an abysmal 14% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
In 2007 Moore's documentary "Sicko" explained the need for a system like Canada's. "Sicko" was rated at 91%.

I do not write this to expose Moore as liar ... that has been done profusely already. I point out that we can't give the benifit of the doubt that he believes his own words. Even that's a little too much like barrelfish, but hey, it's my blog.
